In a blink of an eye, the Boston Dynamics Atlas robot will cross the single-plank bridge again! (video)

Crossing single-plank bridges, stepping on bricks, and walking catwalks are the latest abilities learned by Boston Dynamics’ Atlas Robot! With the support of new algorithms from the Institute of Human and Machine Cognition (IHMC) in the United States, Atlas completed the “hardest walking experiment” and successfully walked through complex terrain such as rubble and narrow passages like a single-plank bridge.

Recently, IHMC Robotics released a rather shocking new video, in which Boston Dynamics’ Atlas robot (DRC version) carefully and autonomously walks over various objects, including suspended planks and wobbly bricks.

Walking the single-plank bridge is not a problem

The bricks looked wobbly, the width of the plank bridge was not much wider than its own feet, and it was not easy for Atlas to walk the catwalk like a model.
